You can ride your bike or walk 25 miles all the way to Westwood on a beautiful scenic path along the Susan River. Also about 7 miles out of town beginning at Devil‘s corral, is what we call the southside Trail, it’s a very fun single track trail with a lot of elevation change Making its way back to the Bizjon’s in Trailhead a 10 minute walk from 1620 1/2. It is absolutely worth discovering!

Great trail for biking, offering 25 miles from Susanville to Mason Station. The trail follows the Susan River, crosses over the river 12 times on bridges and trestles and passes two tunnels. To get there, head east on Highway 36 into Susanville. Follow the Main Street to the stop light at the bottom of the hill by Historic Uptown Susanville. Turn left on Weatherlow Street (which becomes Richmond Road) and follow 1/2 mile across Susan River to Susanville Railroad Depot Trailhead and Visitor Center.

One of my favorite places to run, the Bizz has beautiful colors, gorgeous River, awesome train tunnels, and even singletrack on the Southside Trail along opposite side of the Susan River. Run, bike, or hike, but be sure bring your camera!
