Sightseeing

Lassen is one of our favorite national parks! The visitor center is about 50 minutes away and you can do a scenic drive and/or hike at the many trails. Some of our favorites include Lassen Peak (be prepared for the elevation change), Bumpass Hell and Terrace, Shadow and Cliff Lakes. To get there, head west on Hwy 36 for 30 miles and turn right at Hwy 89, following the signs to Lassen National Park. Warner Valley Located in the southeast corner of the park and accessed via a 13-mile road outside of Chester. There are some nice hiking trails including two of our favorites, Devils Kitchen and Boiling Springs Lake. To get there, head west on Hwy 36 in Chester turn north onto CR-312 (county road). Continue a half mile and veer right onto CR-318. The Chester Fire Station, on the north side of the road, provides a good marker. Continue 4 miles and veer right to stay on CR-312. Follow signs to Drakesbad. Continue 12.5 miles to Warner Valley Campground and day use area. The last 3 miles is dirt road with steep sections and is not recommended for trailers. Juniper Lake is gorgeous with crystal clear waters. It’s great for swimming, kayaking or SUP. To get there, go west on Hwy 36 in Chester, turn north onto CR-312 (county road).
