This area is a great place to explore during your stay. It is free for you to explore and includes a short hike down into the cave/lava tube. This is a great area for a picnic as well.

Short walk through a perfectly dark lava tube. A flashlight is necessary to see any detail as it is pitch dark once you are inside. It’s also very cold inside no matter how hot it is outside, so maybe add an extra layer of clothing just to go inside.

Bring a flashlight or use your cell phone. This place is only a 4 minute drive away from Hat Creek Cabin! It’s freezing inside the cave all year round, so bring a sweater!

The Subway Caves are less than a mile from our cabins and such a cool place to take the entire family!
