Ruins of ancient Roman city of Salona, capital of Roman province of Dalmatia and one of largest cities in the world of that time. Nice for the walk when it is a nice weather, and not too hot outside. :)
Capital of Roman province Dalmatia. Parts of the city are well preserved especially graveyard Manastirine with grave of St. Domnio (patron saint of Split), episcopal centre and amphitheatre.
The ruins of the ancient city of Salona , situated at the foot of the mountains just northeast of Split, are the most archaeologically important in Croatia. Start by paying your admission fee here at the Tusculum Museum, near the entrance to the reserve, as you'll need the map from their brochure to help navigate the vast, sprawling site. This small museum has lots of ancient sculptures and interesting displays on the archaeological team that uncovered the site.
