Karain Cave Karain Cave is 46.5 km from Antalya Airport and 27 km from the city center. Archaeological excavations have been carried out in this region since 1946. It has been concluded from the excavations that the region was used as a settlement center 500,000 years ago. Karain Cave is the largest cave known to have been inhabited by humans in Turkey's history. Karain Cave is also an important paleolithic center for the history of Anatolia and the Near East. On the walls of the cave, there are many hunting-themed paintings that have survived from the Stone Age, that is, the Paleolithic Age, and there are various tools, human and animal bones made of stones and bones from those periods in the cave. Bone fragments thought to belong to wild animals such as elephant, panther, rhinoceros and lion show that they were hunted by people living in this region at that time. As for the natural formations in the cave, there are stalactites and stalagmites, as well as some corridors and sections consisting of 8 eyes. In the light of the findings obtained in the archaeological studies, the Karain Cave was used as a place of worship and a votive place in the Roman Period. In addition to the oldest known human remains in Anatolia during the excavations in the Karain Cave, the portable art products unearthed in the cave are the first examples of Anatolian art. The finds unearthed during the excavations in the Karain Cave are exhibited in a small museum next to the cave and in the Antalya Museum. Пещера Караин является одним из самых интересных исторических и археологических памятников и самой большой естественной пещерой Турции. Расположена она у села Ягджа район Йеникой в Средиземноморском регионе страны где то 27 в километрах к северо западу от Анталии, на восточном склоне скалистой горы Чан. Пещера находится на высоте около триста семидесяти метров над уровнем моря и восьмидесяти метров вверх по склону где зона Западного Тавра граничит с равниной из известкового туфа. Высота самой пещеры составляет сто пятьдесят метров. Кроме природной ценности Караин представляет собой ещё и огромную историческую. Благодаря особенно удачному месторасположению и своему удобству она начиная со времен эпохи палеолита еще двадцать пять тысяч лет назад была заселена людьми которые оставили большое количество вещественных напоминаний о своем пребывании.
