The UofI Museum of Natural History is located in McBride Hall, one of the five historic buildings that make up the Pentacrest. This is a great place to learn a little more about Iowa's past. Bonus-- admission is free!

Learn about the history of our area and imagine what Iowa City would look like 400 million years ago at the bottom of the sea. Don't miss Bird Hall, which houses the largest collection of bird specimens west of the Mississippi. Mammal Hall contains a wide array of mammal specimens from around the world. Both Bird Hall and Mammal Hall are disconnected from the main museum space. You'll need to go upstairs on either side of the building. We recommend that you ask a docent or the gift shop attendant how to find them.

This is a neat place to visit if you're interested in giant sloths and whale skeletons!
