The church of the SS. John and Paul may be called Pantheon of the Doges. Already by the end of the 13th century four doges were buried here.

Point of Interest
“The Bridge of Sighs is a foamous bridge in Venice. The enclosed bridge is made of white limestone, has windows with stone bars, passes over the Rio di Palazzo, and connects the New Prison (Prigioni Nuove) to the interrogation rooms in the Doge's Palace. It was designed by Antonio Contino, whose uncle Antonio da Ponte designed the Rialto Bridge, and it was built in 1600. ”

“Known by Venetians as simply "Salute". After Venice experienced an unusually devastating outbreak of the plague. As an offering for the city's deliverance from the pestilence, the Republic of Venice vowed to build and dedicate a church to Our Lady of Health (or of Deliverance, Italian: Salute).”
