If you want to enjoy the beautiful weather, listen to some local musicians or read a book nearby the water, this is the place to be.
Centuries ago, here, at ‘Tusschen Brugghen’, people were hard at work. Graslei is where ships would unload their goods.
Much of the city's medieval architecture remains intact and is remarkably well preserved and restored. Its centre is the largest carfree area in Belgium.
One of my favorite places of them all is the Graslei. It is in the very heart of Ghent. These quays stretch along the Leie river with Graslei and its unique medieval buildings on the ring bank, Korenlei along the left. You can drink someting at the local bars or you can shop in the Albert Heijn at the Korenmarkt and sit, while looking at the water. It is one of the oldest locations in Gent and very beautifull in the evening. Cost: free!
