The Weherahena Temple near Matara has a cellar vault with tunnel-like corridors painted from ceiling to floor with images of Buddha's life, famous monks or generous patrons in bright colors. The center of the temple, however, is a 5-storey high seated Buddha statue. The view from the top is amazingly beautiful. Der Weherahena Tempel ist in der Nähe von Matara hat ein Kellergewölbe mit tunnelartigen Gängen, die von der Decke bis zum Boden mit Bildern aus Buddhas Leben, berühmten Mönchen oder spendablen Gönnern in buntesten Farben bemalt sind. Den Mittelpunkt des Tempels bildet jedoch eine 5 Stockwerke hohe sitzende Buddha-Statue. Die Aussicht von ganz oben ist sagenhaft schön.
