So the name sounds terrible, but trust us the views you will get from hiking in the Jewel Basin are total worth the risk. The gravel/dirt road to Camp Misery can be a bit challenging depending on the type of car you are driving. There are many different hikes in this area and it is definitely a local favorite.

Started our hike to the summit of Mt. Aeneas at the Camp Misery Trailhead. This is the starting point for quite a few Jewel Basin hikes. There is a Ranger cabin here, a pit toilet, and a little parking lot which was full so we had to park down the road a bit. Hands down this was my favorite hike in the Flathead Valley. Such incredible views!

Great place to hike!!! Camp Misery is the main trailhead for the Jewel Basin Hiking Area, including the Mt. Aeneas #717 trail. Please note that it's a gravel road up to a trailhead.
