Pier 2 at Brooklyn Bridge draws players from the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan. There are seven full courts, Manhattan views, and all levels of comp. There are actual nets—I love the snap when my shot goes in. It’s a great place to spend the day, packed on weekends and after 5 during the week. Also, tons of makeshift cabins selling all types of food. The A and B courts, where the best talent goes, have canopies over them so you can keep playing if it drizzles. But if there’s a lot of rain, the water’s going to run onto the court.

My favorite time for pickup is spring, summer, and fall. I was born in Brooklyn and have hit nearly every court here. I’m an ESPN national three-point shooting champ and was in the b-ball doc Doin’ It in the Park.

The park is huge, and there's so much to do! From sand volleyball courts at Pier 6 to kayaking, roller skating at a rink or playing bocce at Pier 2, and everything in between. Please check their website -- they have a great map in there in which you can see all they have to offer, hours and special…

Modern green space with nice design on the East River. Sweeping views of lower Manhattan, recreation centers, sports, book readings, access to the Brooklyn Bridge and the east river ferry to go to Manhattan, same price as subway.
