Skadarlija ist ein Künstlerviertel im Zentrum von Belgrad. Die etwa 500 Meter lange Straße Skadarska befindet sich im strengsten Zentrum von Belgrad . Aufgrund der Nähe des Nationaltheaters lebten viele Schauspieler im späten 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhundert . Andere Schauspieler, Dichter , Schriftsteller , Maler kamen mit Schauspielern zusammen. Es ist bekannt, dass die Schauspieler (wahrscheinlich wegen des Stiches) vor der Show nichts essen. Die Gelegenheit, etwas zu verwirren und zu trinken, ist kurz nach der Show, wenn die Spannung nachlässt und es fast Mitternacht ist. Aus diesem Grund wurden viele Tavernen , einige der ältesten in Belgrad, in Skadarlija mit einem Spitznamen belegt. Dor

This is an extremely unique district in Belgrade which strives to preserve the old-town ‘Bohemian’ spirit. It is located close to the National theatre and back in the day it used to be the gathering place for primarily artists of all branches – actors, poets, painters, performers and all other artistically inclined professions. The Skadarlija street is not only beautiful and preserving in the old-town spirit, but also a home to some of Belgrade’s most well-known restaurants and hotels. Quite regularly this is the place to see music bands dressed in traditional Serbian garments playing brass instruments and traditional urban music.

It is somewhat difficult to get the entire street in one splendid shot, but Belgrade’s Bohemian Quarter is worth the multiple shots that will inevitably be taken. Skadarlija is one of the many nightlife centres in the city, a traditional cobblestone street packed with restaurants, bars and cafes. It might not be particularly bohemian and it certainly isn’t big enough to be called a quarter, but Skadarlija is still rather beautiful.
