Vyšehrad (Czech for "upper castle") is a historic fort located in the city of Prague, Czech Republic. It was built, probably in the 10th century, on a hill over the Vltava River. Situated within the castle is the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, as well as the Vyšehrad Cemetery, containing the remains of many famous people from Czech history, among them Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Karel Čapek, and Alphonse Mucha. It also contains one of Prague's oldest surviving buildings, the Rotunda of St Martin from the 11th century. There is a beautiful view of Prague from Vysehrad and it's a very nice place to go for a walk.

One of the most ancient areas in Prague. The fortress with which the city began to be built. Not so popular with tourists, so here you can enjoy a calm atmosphere, romance and beautiful views of all the main sights of Prague.

A mysterious place where Czech history was formed. Historical fort on the cliff above the Vltava river bank with nice view of the city. Huge park, charming Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, cemetery of great Czechs, the underground casements (with original statues from the Charles Bridge) and of course garden pub with grill. Great way to escape the crowds of the Old Town and Prague Castle. It is the best place for sunset observation.
