Abay Monument. In 1961 the monument on Lenin avenue (Dostyk avenue) was established to Abai (Ibrahim) Kunanbaev (1845-1904), great Kazakh poet and educator. Bronze figure of Abai is made under the project of sculptor Kh. E. Naurzbaev. Trapezoidal pedestal of red Kurdai granite was constructed under the project of architect I.I. Belotserkovsky On pedestal facade there is a metal plate with the words: «Abai (Ibrahim) Kunanbaev». 1845-1904». Height of the monument is 14 meters.
