The Museum of Typography is located near Chania, Crete, at the Industrial Park of Souda. The museum started as a small private collection next to the newspaper’s printing facilities and first opened its doors to the public in 2005. A few years later, in 2012, a new wing was added, presenting various techniques related to typography. In 2015 another hall was inaugurated, along with the museum shop and a small coffee shop. At the last hall, through selected rare books, newspapers, engravings and lithographs from the 16th–19th centuries, visitors have the opportunity to see and learn more about the turbulent history of Crete.

The Museum of Typography is a Greek museum of typography and printing located near Chania, Crete, at the Industrial Park of Souda. It was founded by Yannis Garedakis, owner and founder of the local newspaper Haniotika Nea, and his wife Eleni Garedakis. Its premises host conferences, book presentations, theatrical performances, music events, etc., while every year it organizes an international poster competition for Typography.

The sole Museum of Typography in Greece is located in Chania, only 4 km from the city of Chania, in the Industry Park of Souda. The Museum of Typography, which officially opened its gates in May 2005, includes in its collection fine printing presses and other machines, as well as tools and objects that present the development of typography from its birth, the period of Gutenberg till today. 69 224Rare books and newspapers, as well as precious lithographies, travel the visitor in the art of Typography. The effort for the enrichment of the Museum with new exhibits and the contact with people of Typography is continuous. In April 2012, the museum was extended in a new wing, adding exhibits in its collection that 69 225concern the development of graphic arts, as well as two significant exhibitions that are related with the development of typography and the history of writing. During the visit can everyone print using the old printing press.
