Die berühmte „Hole-in-the-Wall“-Schlemmertour in Quito
Leave the typical touristy food tour behind and join us on these 5 HUECAS "hole on the wall" along The Floresta and Vicentina neighborhoods. Our Experience will start from our meeting point: at flags sticks at Swiss Hotel (12 de Octubre and Luis Cordero streets). A perfect combination between Hidden restaurants and Street food places. 1 stop: (APPETIZER): * Bolones or Humitas or Quimbolitos 2nd Stop: (MAIN DISH): * A very traditional dish from the Coast region. 3rd Stop: (DESSERT): * The best ice cream you can imagine made of dark chocolate and passion fruit. 4th Stop: (DRINK): * Quito's typical hot cocktail with a great view. 5th Stop: (YAPA / Kichwa word for bonus): We will make an stop by a traditional PARK full of street food options to eat empanadas. You can stay at the end of this tour in this street food park if interested on trying more food if you still had space on your stomach. Haha. Our experience let you have a closeup view of our delicious culinary.
Abenteuer am wunderschönen Quilotoa-Kratersee
We will start picking up all the participants from their location (in case that is farther from the city we will find a meeting point). Our trip will take at least3.5 hours from Quito to Quilotoa community, we can make a stop to take breakfast (in the case that you couldn't make it before we meet) and then continue our trip. On the way, we will see some places and towns until we arrive at the principal indigenous town of Zumbahua, where while we walk around we would see the traditional indigenous market (only on Saturday). Continuing our trip to the Lagoon, once we arrive we prepare all our staff to start our hike, there will be 3 options that you can chose once you see the landscape: 1. Hike surrounding the crater of the volcano (4 to 5 hours) 2. Hike in the regular path and visit the touristic spot (boats, kayaks) (2.5 to 3.5 hours) 3. Hike a non visited path and surround a little part of the lagoon to take the regular path. (2 to 3 hours) When we come back to the start point we will look for a place to have lunch (there are some options) and our trip to Quito will start again. Other things to note - This trip has a least 3.5 hours per way traveling from and to Quito. - There is the possibility to visit a gallery of a family of indigenous painters of the area. - Be prepared with warm clothes, this places is cold and windy, some days rain.
Die echten Galapagosinseln
Day 1 Experience a true Galapagos experience. You start with a transfer on arrival from Baltra´s airport to Santa Cruz. This is not difficult, but a bit tedious, as information can be contradictory. On arrival, you will be picked up from the airport, taken to the bus that will take you from the airport to the dock. Once in there you will take a 5-minute ferry across Itabaca Channel, to get to Puerto Ayora. From there you will have private transportation. First, you start with a visit to a private farm in the Highlands of Santa Cruz, where you can see the Giant tortoises living and roaming in the wild. The entrance of the farm is already included. You have the option to get lunch at the highlands, although this is not included, it would be nice to eat while you can see the tortoises walking around. Afterward, you will head to the Charles Darwin Station where you´ll see more giant tortoises of different islands (before, each island used to have its type, but nowadays many are extinct) and how the Galapagos National Park created, and how it takes care of them and all the other species. At the end of this, you will be left at your hotel for you to rest, and get to know by yourself the small town of Puerto Ayora. Other things to note You can use any flight arriving at Baltra for this trip, although the sooner you arrive the better. In case you arrive on a flight after midday, one of the visits, either Highlands or Charles Darwin Station would need to be chosen. Private guide for the tours, although the ferry and bus are shared. Day 2 On the second day, you will have an early breakfast (around 6 am) and will take a day tour in one of the best boats for this. Destinations can vary from: Bartolome, North Seymour, Plazas, Santa Fe. Depending on each location you will start with a transfer from Puerto Ayora to Itabaca Channel and then navigation of 2 hours long (Bartolome or North Seymour) or travel directly by boat to the location which will take a bit under 2 hours (South Plazas or Santa Fe. On arrival, you will do a trekking with a naturalist guide. Keep in mind that these tours are done on a shared basis, and according to regulations the maximum number of people on a group can be of 16 passengers. You´ll walk at a slow pace with the group and guide, learning about the Galapagos Islands, and its residents. Each island has its own wildlife. Afterward, you will get ready to do snorkeling. The snorkeling gear is provided (mask, fins, and tube), although water in Galapagos is usually considered cold, it depends on your tolerance to cold water, and you can decide on that moment if you rent a wetsuit onboard or if you don´t need it. Despite any of the day tours that you take, all of them come recommended. I only use and recommend the boats with good guides, a nice itinerary, a good service and that are safe. You will return around 4-5pm, and you can rest or walk around the town a bit more! Other things to note You can ask for a specific island tour, but this is subject to availability and is regularized by the Galapagos National Park and it can be changed. Tips are not included. These are optional. Recommended about $15-$20 per person, although it is up to you entirely. The boat accommodates special diets Day 3 On your third day, once again you will wake up early in the morning to have your breakfast. It is recommended to have a light breakfast, as the speedboat to Isabela can be a rough ride. The speedboat is a public service, so it is not that comfortable, but still, the crew is always on the lookout in case you spot any wildlife to make your journey more enjoyable. This ride will take about 2 hours and a half, and on arrival, you will be taken by local people to your accommodation. If the accommodation is ready, you can already get it, otherwise, you can leave your bags and have a bit of free time before your next activity. If Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz was small, Puerto Villamil, the town in Isabela is even smaller, so it is recommended to just walk to/from any place. At an appropriate time, you have to be at the dock to start your Tintoreras Tour. Tintoreras islet is located just south of the dock where you can do incredible snorkeling and spot a variety of species. Afterward, you will have the afternoon at leisure to rest and enjoy the beautiful beach of Isabela. Other things to note Isabela has an entry fee, which is $10 per person that is not included in the price. Day 4 The 4th day you will visit the emblematic Sierra Negra Volcano, with a 4-5 hour hike. You start in the morning around 7:30 am, from where you will be picked up from your hotel and taken on this shared tour. it is not steep or very strenuous, but it is long and a minimum physical condition is required. It is all about landscapes and volcanoes! Sierra Negra has one of the largest calderas in the world. Descending further you can visit Volcan Chico, to witness the incredible landscape of smoldering cones and craters formed by various past eruptions; it literally feels like you're walking on the moon! A box lunch is provided as well for you. You will return back to Puerto Villamil around 2 pm. Afternoon at leisure. It is recommended to take this afternoon to go and visit the Wall of tears. Located about 45 minutes away, it is advised to rent a bike and go and visit it yourself. Isabela used to be a prison for some of the worst prisoners Ecuador had about 70 years ago. The wall of tears are the ruins of this prison. Other things to note For Sierra Negra, you don´t need to be an athlete, but as it is a continuous walk uphill, even though it is not very steep, it can be tiring. It is recommended to bring plenty of water. There are no bathrooms nearby, so it is always good to keep that in mind. Day 5 On your 5th day, you start in the morning around 7:30 or 8:30 am, you will be picked up from your hotel. You will start with the Wetlands. If you have already visited the Wall of tears by yourself, you have been close to the Wetlands. At the wetlands, you will find one of the biggest colonies of flamingos. 5 minutes away, you will find the tortoise breeding center. At first sight, you might think it is similar to the Charles Darwin Station, but not only you find in here a different variation of giant tortoises, but you find and learn how the tortoises are taken care from the moments they are in eggs until they hatch, grow and become adults. After your tour, you have some final moments in Isabela, before taking a speedboat back to Santa Cruz at around 3 pm. You will be arriving to Puerto Ayora around 5:30 pm. Transfer from the dock to your hotel. Other things to note This is a walking tour on a shared services. Having your water bottle is always recommended, although distances are short. There are no entrance fees to the wetlands or the Tortoise Center. The ride to Puerto Ayora is usually a bit shorter than the other way around. Day 6 At an appropriate time, an assistant will go to your hotel and you will have a transfer from your hotel to the Itabaca Channel. From there you will take the ferry crossing the channel to Baltra´s island, and then take the bus back to the airport. At the airport, your assistant will leave you to do the check-in with your airline. Remember that the ferry and the bus in Baltra are shared services. Other things to note The flights are usually in the morning. Keep in mind that it takes a bit under 2 hours to get from Puerto Ayora to the airport in Baltra. So the transfer is done around 3 hours before departure.
