They specialize in vodka-based cocktails (60-80rmb) and high-end bar food like oysters and steaks. There is a Monday promo - dozen oysters for 100 rmb. This is a fine place to start a night on the Bund. Unlike a lot of Bund bars, this one is nice but still laid back, and they do not enforce a strict dress code. They also do brunch on Sundays, 3 course for 198rmb.

Prices are reasonable for the location and views. Definitely a good spot to impress guests or to take a date. Despite being a tourist place, it's pretty solid, and popular for a reason. This place can get quite busy so you may want to RSVP.

Drinks & Nightlife
KING SCORPION bar on the 26th floor of the Henghsheng Peninsula Hotel. Enter the hotel and look for the panoramic elevator behind the front desk. Address: Wuchang road 258 (crossroad with Wusong Road).
This is a super secret spot with the best rooftop overviewing Shanghai Pudong and Bund. They have big selection of wines and cigars, go there when the weather is nice so you can sit outside and admire Shanghai or take good photos. Bar is usually half empty, so don't be surprised. Working hours: 14:00 - 00:00.
Hengsheng Peninsula International Center Mansion

There's room for about 60 people inside, plus a small roof terrace that's nice in the summer. Food is basic burger-and-chips stuff, drinks are bottled beers and basic cocktails, all in the 40rmb area.

This historic theater way up in Hongkou was once a temp, then it was Chinatown, now it's available for events and the odd piece of theater. It's a really beautiful old space with a gallery and boxes, very traditional but hip, too. It's a bit out of the way, but don't let that put you off if there's something going on here, it's good to head out to this often-overlooked part of town. Lots of inexpensive Chinese restaurants on the same street, too.
