We select the best export quality beef available in the country. Our preference is for beef that is finished on grass as this provides meat with maximum flavor, just as nature intended. What we do differently at the Barn is that we age our beef on the premises for 8 weeks or longer. Most people and places say beef is aged when it is two weeks old. Like great wines that improve for 50 years, great beef gets sweeter, more tender and acquires a taste that cannot be duplicated except with proper ageing.

Mayura Station is SA’s award winning beef producer with one of Australia's largest full-blood Wagyu herds. Wagyu is said to be the world's best beef, and Mayura Station has been named as one of the world's best producers. “The Tasting Room” is set on a farm overlooking paddocks of grazing cattle with distant views of Canunda National Park and the sand dunes of the Limestone Coast and is arguably South Australia’s best Steak restaurant.

Cape Banks Lighthouse The lighthouse was established in 1883. The original structure was 7.5 metres in height and was made from local limestone. The lantern was used from the old MacDonnell Lighthouse (demolished in 1882) at Cape Northumberland. The original character was alternating revolving, showing one red and two white faces. The illuminant was vaporized kerosene with an incandescent mantle. 3 groups (3 lamps in each group) 2 white and 1 red. In May 1928, it was raised to 15 metres. With this upgrade upgrade the light was demanned and the keeper’s cottages have since been demolished. Until 1976 the light was run on a Dalen Acetylene Gas system which mixed the gas with air and also rotated a lens. It was then converted to electric in using the lens from St Francis Island.

Mount Gambier's big-ticket item is the luminous, 75m-deep lake, which turns an insane hue of blue during summer. Perplexed scientists think it has to do with calcite crystals suspended in the water, which form at a faster rate during the warmer months. Consequently, if you visit between April and November, the lake will look much like any other − a steely grey. But in January, WOW! The surface of the water is 20m below downtown Mt Gambier's street level.
