A unique drawbridge point of interest - Te Matau a Pohe Bridge is one of the only rolling bascule bridges in New Zealand. Costing just over $30 million and mainly built by local companies the bridge opened in July 2013 and is modelled on the traditional Maori fish hook, hei matua, which represents strength, good luck and safe travel.
