Brownsea Island is a great place for a day trip. You can get a boat either from Poole Quay or Sandbanks. It's owned by the National Trust , has some lovely walks and a nature reserve. Also, one of the few places left in the UK where you can see red squirrels. Normally open between Easter and September.
Has open air theatre events over the summer months.

If you don't have a car you can get there by bus from the centre of Bournemouth. Has some beautiful sandy beaches including a naturist beach. Would always suggest taking a picnic if you're heading over for a beach day , as not much in the way of shops & cafes.

Bournemouth gardens which lead down to the main beach & pier are definitely worth a wander around. From where you're staying they're about a 10/15 minute walk away.

Sightseeing
Purbecks are a lovely area & not that far from Bournemouth. You can get there by bus from the centre of Bournemouth. Great area for walking and just to get away somewhere quieter
