Food Scene

Whether it's for weekend brunch or a nice evening dinner, the patio is so romantic and the wine selection and food are amazing. Nice quiet spot away from the flashiness of the Strip.

Yummy Grill and Sushi is one of the best sushi bars in town. I usually go for all you can eat but sometimes I want take out to keep it light. The fish is fresh, and the happy hour is perfect. Highly recommend

If you're looking for a break from Vegas for a day (or even just a couple of hours), Bonnie Springs Ranch is just a bit further than Red Rock- and possibly a better option if you have kids. Chickens, roosters, peacocks, and other critters are running freely around the area, so if you don't like animals, this is not the place for you. The first thing you'll see as you walk up is the restaurant- you can grab a meal there first and bring your $25+ receipt to the ticket booth for admission. Once inside, you're free to tour the small western town, complete with a shooting gallery, various live shows/plays, a mining area, a chapel, a saloon, and a gift shop.

Drinks & Nightlife

Red Rock casino is a great time, especially if you're on vacation and staying off the strip with family. There's plenty to do, and the prices are great. You could easily spend a whole day hanging out at the bowling alley, movie theatre, bingo hall, and keno (best in Las Vegas!) without even touching the slots and table games. There are also a few really good restaurants inside if you would like to take your family out for dinner.

Parks & Nature

It is a nice 45 minute tranquil drive from Las Vegas. We typically stop for lunch in Mount Charleston. In the summer time it is a great place to escape from the heat and the winter it has skiing( it does snow near Las Vegas). The area is scenic and nice mountain views. Lots of trails and fun in the snow ! =)

Follow all the directions and park at the end of Vegas Vista Trail road- the mountain will be towards the east. The first part of the hike was easy. Once you get to the saddle, there is a bench feel free to rest here and there is no shame in turning back. If you want a challenge, head up to the top- the rest of the hike is dusty, dirty, with a steep incline and loose rock. The 360' view at the top is worth a few blisters, sore calves, and a raised heart rate.

Located at the site of the original Las Vegas Ranch, this location has a little bit to offer just about everyone. For history buffs, there's a load of information here about the developmental history of Las Vegas from indigenous peoples, to Western Expansion, to the modern era. For the naturalists and nature lovers, there's a lot of interactive stuff about the landscape and the animals that inhabit it. I recommend you take in the flash flood exhibit. Also, they have a butterfly exhibit available now, so you might like that. If you're into design and living, then there is currently an installation that explores how we use energy and the future of development in the Mojave
