Sightseeing
This is one epic drive. Starting at the 5 way intersection of Maricopa Hwy and El Roblar, turn north onto Maricopa Hwy and you can drive for almost an hour through changing backcountry terrain. Turn off at Rose Valley to visit the Sespe Wilderness and some amazing swimming holes (ask us for tips), or keep climbing higher for amazing views all the way to the ocean. Great hikes along this route as well.

The Ojai Land Conservancy saved this land from becoming a shopping center and today it is a birder's paradise - many types of ducks in the pond and several types of Owls in the Eucalyptus grove - an all around great place to take a stroll. From the meadow you can also connect to The Saddle trail, great views and a great way to get in a little cardio.

From the meadow you can also connect to The Saddle trail, great views and a great way to get in a little cardio.
Shelf Road is a fairly easy hike, with some up and downhill sections. If you'd like more of a workout and even more impressive views, I suggest parking at the very top of Signal Street (obey the signs telling you where parking is allowed) and hike Shelf until you see a sign for Fox Canyon Trail. Take this up, make sure to stop and check out the views of the Ojai Valley, Lake Casitas and the ocean on a clear day. Once the trail splits, turn right onto Foothill trail and take it until you see a sign for Luci's trail on the right. Luci will take you back to Shelf.
