Made to order central mexican specialities served with hand made tortillas. I haven't had a bad meal there yet. They have a great selection of mezcal, they have air conditioning and there is a smoking section in the back patio.

This little museum is free and show cases mayan and colonial artifacts. It has its own little park where you can sit and listen to the birds sing. The staff is friendly and visitors must sign the guest book.

Beer, wine and liquor sales are from 10am-9pm Mon-Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays. Restaurants and bars that are open later still serve until around 2am.

Explore local shops, street food vendors, little places to eat, enjoy local architecture and just wander around. Be sure to visit the ex convent of San Bernadino. Most nights they have a free video mapping show about the history of the convent and Valladolid in spanish and english. Sunday evenings in the central park is the free dance. Watch the local mayan dance and later everyone is dancing in the street to live music.

Mayan ruins at Ek Balam are a must see for the beautiful carvings in the main pyramid. There is also a beautiful cenote with its own entrance next to the archeological site. You can walk the 2km to the cenote, rent a bike or take the trici taxi.

Most, if not all, of the the animals in VallaZoo were gathered from less than ideal situations around the region. My zoological friends from the States were pleased with the facilities and we passed a pleasant while walking around and exploring the zoo and its residents. VallaZoo is a sweet little place to visit and support the rescue work VallaZoo performs.
