Closest Beaches to Huelo Point Lookout! Welcome to Huelo Point Lookout! If you're looking for some of the best beaches in the area, we've got you covered. Ho'okipa State Park is a short 20-minute drive away and offers spectacular sunset views of surfing, waves, windsurfing, and kite surfing. You can even see giant green sea turtles (honu) to the right, but be sure to respect their space and never touch or use flash photography. For a quieter beach experience, we recommend Mama's Beach, located just past Ho'okipa. Keep an eye out for the public parking section near Mama's Fish House, or take the next right for some street parking (our little local secret!). If you're passing through Pa'ia, check out the Youth & Cultural Center on your right for ample parking and public facilities. Pa'ia Bay is a beautiful long beach with great boogie-boarding, and to the left, you'll find a small beach with an enclosed ocean pool – perfect for a relaxing swim. Keep walking left to reach Baldwin Beach, a huge stretch of sand that's great for walking, but be careful of strong ocean currents if you plan to swim. For a protected swimming cove, head to Baldwin State Park and walk to the right. Or, for a more spacious beach experience, try Kanaha Beach by the Kahului airport. This lovely state park offers plenty of room to spread out along the beach and watch windsurfers, with stunning sunsets to top it off. Just a word of caution – if you're new to surfing, we recommend taking lessons in Kihei or Lahaina before braving the waves on the North Shore. They can be much more challenging and powerful, so always be careful and aware of your surroundings. Enjoy your beach adventures!
