Lovely area with great bars, restaurants and the best charity shops! Sunday food market is great. I recommend walking along the Water of Leith to the beautiful Dean Village.

Famous cobbled street popular with tourists, with the Castle at the top and the Palace at the bottom. Busy and teeming with street performers in the summer months. I recommend exploring all of the closes (little lanes) that lead off the main street, where you can find cool courtyards and surprises. Beware - bars and cafes around here are a bit more expensive.

Great walk with a rewarding view over the city. It can get really busy on nice days as it's in the middle of the city. I recommend sensible footwear and a warm top!

Edinburgh's seaside town! Get and ice cream and play at the amusements then jump the waves on the beach. Swimming in the North Sea is only for the brave, even on hot days! Along the promenade you can find the old Victorian swimming pool if you really need to swim! Portobello itself has some great bars and cafes.

TAXI: Take the Market Street exit where there is a taxi rank. Address is 19 Lawrie Reilly Place. It's new so taxi drivers don't always know it so here's the script: "go along Albion Road past the stadium to where it intersects Lochend Butterfly Way and turn in to the right, towards the back of Sainsburys and continue in to the cul-de-sac."
BUS: Take the Princes Street exit and cross the road. Take the 1 towards Easter Road and get off at Brunswick Road. Then walk along Albion Road and follow the above taxi instruction. It's about a 5minute walk from the bus stop to house.
