Parks & Nature

If you are a nature lover Ainos mountain will not disappoint. Known as the “black mountain” by the pirates, it gets it’s distinct nickname by the unique dark green pine tree that is native only on this island. For preservation purposes, the same tree has been planted on the mountain of Parnitha in mainland Greece, but Kefalonia is the only place the dark pine grows naturally. Take a hike for absolutely breathtaking views of the whole island (and surrounding islands on good weather days), look at the wild horses and other animals that call this place home. This mountain is great all year round, with amazing smells in the summer and deep snow in the winter.

The only place where you can find original Kefalonian architecture as the rest of the island was rebuilt following the big 1953 earthquake. Small beaches on the way to fiskardo and Hollywood celebrity spotting could make the drive worth while.

Named amongst the best beaches in the world many times, this is a must if you want to prove you visited Kefalonia. Deep waters with strong currents, so if you are swimming with children, make sure to go when the water is calm.

One of the most child friendly beaches on the island due to its shallow waters, Trapezaki is our local beach. it is a 20minute walk downhill and about 40minutes walk uphill if you can brave it!! 5 minutes drive otherwise.

If you want to watch the sun set right into the water this is the place to do it! Also, very close to the airport so it can be fun watching planes land/take off. Since the airport is not hectic busy, this would not be too overwhelming.
