There are many great places to Kayak in and around Portland. We love Scappoose for quite bay and streams to Kayak. Lot's of wildlife. The paddling center rents and has tours. Don't miss the nighttime wildlife tour it is amazing.

I never miss the yearly Black Sheep Gathering. it is a great fiber festival and livestock show. About an hour drive so can stay at the Croft and drive down and back comfortably. Plan to spend the day at this venue and take some classes. Come home and practice in the cottage which is well stocked with "fibery" goodness.
