All around the lake there is a very nice cycle path, 28 km long very easy and flat, it connected also with the cycle path of Comabbio lake. If you are interested in you can take our bikes with no problem:) or rent them at the lake.
The two main points on the lake are Schiranna and Gavirate, both with children playground, bars pizzeria and park with ducks and swans. Both are famous for their rowing teams, Gavirate also hosts the headquarter training centre of Australian rowing team!

In Varese center very nice to visit the Giardini Estensi, it is the public park of the town hall, here you will find also a children playground and going upstairs behind the fountain you will find also a nice electric train for children.

Very nice to visit is Villa Panza, in the city centre, fee entrance, in addition to the wonderful park and the villa it is possible to visit also art exhibition and a permanent installation with colored light, very suggesting!

The Unesco heritage Sacromonte has a wonderful view over the lake, the city and the Swiss valleys, and great cathedral. There are also some restaurants with touristic menu for lunch.
To reach the top of Sacromonte it you can choose:

Anyway, to have a bath also Monate lake and Ghirla lake are ok, at Varese Lake you can swim in the area of Schiranna or Bodio Lomnago.

If you want only to put your foot in the fresh water, also Ponte del Diavolo is very nice, only 20 minutes walking from home, a little river in the wood!

In the east side of Como area very nice to visit are also the cities of
- Bellaggio, called "the pearl of the lake", on the tip of the famous "triangolo lariano", very characteristic and beautiful
- Lecco where is set the italian literature masterpiece "I promessi sposi"
also the west side is very nice to see, the street Como-Menaggio SS340 run along the lake giving you several panoramic points, in Tremezzina there is the famous neoclassical "Villa Carlotta" with amazing garden.
