Home to Kohu Road ice cream. This coffee shop is in the factory that makes the ice-cream famous in our supermarkets. They are a bagel style cafe with all their ice-creams on offer fresh and ready to eat or be naughty and buy in bulk to take home! Large family friendly with a caravan full of fairy lights and toys for the kids to play in.

New Zealand's famous black sand beaches, like nothing you'll see anywhere else in the world. Surf is amazing here but don't take on the water if your not an experienced swimmer, we do have life guards here but Piha is prone to rips, not a great beach for swimming if your taking children.

Take your boogie boards. You wont see anything like this anywhere else. There is a little walking involved here, you will arrive at a small car park, but hope out and follow what looks to be a narrow trail through trees beside a stream (it is sign posted to the lake), after a short distance it opens out to the most amazing sand dunes, these are a good 10 feet high and a lot of fun to slide down on a boogie board (or cardboard box if you haven't got one). Once you've had enough of riding the dunes carry you can finish you walk at the lake, where swimming is a must in this refreshing lake.

Museum of Transport and Technology. Not only is the museum situated on the edge of one of the best parks in the city (with the Zoo on the other side) but this place is packed full of interactive exhibits. Ride on a tram to their other site where they have planes galore to look through.
