Hike
Preikestolen is a unique place to visit, with a stunning view of the Lysefjord. If you have the chance to go there, it is worth it. It takes about an hour from the apartment.
In the summer season it is smart to start early in the morning or late in the afternoon, so you get to experience it more to yourself.
I would not recommend bringing young children up there. It takes a couple of hours to hike up, it's a bit hard in the beginning, but just take your time and you will get there.

If you like downhill skiing, Gullingen offers nice slopes, and is only a 30 minute drive from the apartment. The area also offers cross-country skiing, with several ski-trails.
