Neighborhoods

Cherry Hill is tucked away just East of the historic downtown Flagstaff. A short 10 minute walk down Cherry and you are in the action. However, the Cherry Hill neighborhood itself is very quiet and private with very little traffic outside it's residents. It's a great spot to feel like you are a part of the city life while still having peace and quiet during your stay.

If you love to hike and want to get outdoors, head down 89A to visit Oak Creek Canyon. Our favorite trail is the West Fork and is pretty easy for beginning hikers. Weekdays are best as the canyon gets packed. If you want to park in the West Fork parking area, plan on getting there very early in the morning or later in the afternoon.

For something unique, look into a visit to the Lava River Cave. Dress warm as it is very cold inside! Be prepared for some physical activity. This may not be the best activity for young children or inexperienced adults.

Verkehrsmittel

Flagstaff is very walkable but a vehicle is recommended.

If you plan on staying at Lunar Lodge and only visiting the downtown area, you do not need a vehicle if you are capable of walking. However, to explore more of the city, the easiest mode of transportation would be your own passenger vehicle. We also have a city bus line with very reasonable costs (Mountain Line) and Uber/Lyft are readily available.

Hiking, Biking, and Sightseeing

Take advantage of the free activities Flagstaff offers! You don't have to spend a ton of money to have an amazing time. Head out to Buffalo Part or Fatman Trail for hiking. Thorpe Park has a great frisbee golf course and playground and is one of our favorite spots for a picnic. If you bring your bikes, head down to the mountain bike course at Ft. Tuthill for some fun. And make sure you take an afternoon or evening to walk around and explore the downtown area.

Snow Play and Holiday Activities

Some of the activities we recommend booking in advance are snowplay and sledding down at Ft. Tuthill. This event sells out each year on a daily basis and is extremely popular. If you are interested in the North Pole Express experience, get your tickets early on in the season. The train to the Grand Canyon from Williams is also popular so we recommend booking early to get your preferred dates.

Warm clothes!!

Flagstaff is in the mountains! And while it can get hot during the day, it cools off quickly at night. That means that even the evenings can feel a bit chilly in the middle of Summer. Make sure to bring some warmer clothing items for your visit. It is also recommended you are prepared to get rained on from the months of July-September. We often get daily monsoon storms that seemingly come out of nowhere. So make sure you are prepared!
