Sightseeing
Garvan Gardens are beautiful year round! Plan on spending 2-3 hours strolling the gardens and make sure to see the Treehouse and the Chapel. $20/person and worth it! If you are going multiple days, an annual membership for a couple is $75. Dogs are allowed on a 6 foot leash (and will love it).

One of two remaining Bathhouses, Quapaw features large co-ed pools of natural hot spring water. Refreshing and rejuvenating and a step back into Hot Springs luxury in 1920! They don't take reservations for the baths, so your best bet is to show up early, a little before they open in the morning. They do take reservations for massages and spa treatments, and you should book those weeks in advance.

Hiking
Drive to the top of Hot Springs National Park for incredible vistas. You can go up the observation tower, or park at the top and hike a loop for 30 minutes to a couple of hours. The trails intersect in multiple places, so it's a good idea to grab a trail map at the park office on Bathhouse Row or at the tower. Dog Friendly and free.

There's a nice two-mile hike at Lake Catherine State Park: the Falls Branch trail with a lovely waterfalls that flows into the lake. Spend one-hour on the hike. Dog Friendly, free.

Lake Ouachita is wild and natural, a world apart from busy Lake Hamilton. Our favorite hike is the 4-mile Caddo Bend trail, which will take 2+ hours through the hills along the lake peninsula. There are also boat rides and events at the Park, so check the state park website for info. In the winter, they have boat tours to see nesting Bald Eagles that winter at the Lake. Dog Friendly hikes, free. One of the absolute prettiest lakes in Arkansas. Pack a lunch and spend the day there.

Ziplining through the woods is so fun! There are 10 lines here and it takes about 60-90 minutes depending on your group size. Reservation required and weekends can book up. Check on Groupon for significant discounts.

Ecuadoran restaurant, great lunch spot. If it's nice out, the stone patio in the rear of the restaurant is remarkable and a local's favorite. You'd never expect it from the front of the restaurant, but downtown was built into the stone walls of the mountain. Dog Friendly on the patio.

One of the original seven bathhouses on Central Avenue, Superior Bathhouse is now a microbrewery and restaurant. Excellent Craft Beers are made on site from Hot Springs water. First time? Be sure to get a flight and try several brews. Dog Friendly, even inside the restaurant. This may be our favorite place to go eat! Can be busy, but check in and go for a stroll, they will text you when your table is ready.
