The Hoh Rainforest, reminiscent of a land before time, receives between 140 and 170 inches of rain a year. Some of the trees that live here are over 1000 years old. The Hoh River Valley was formed thousands of years ago by glaciers. The Hoh Rain Forest is a prime example of a temperate rainforest. It is one of four rain forests located on the Olympic Peninsula, and it is has been awarded the distinction of being both a World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Its unique ecosystem has remained unchanged for thousands of years and it is now the most carefully preserved rain forest in the northern hemisphere.

Elk Creek Conservation Area is my favorite hike in Forks, Washington. Owned by North Olympic Land Trust, Elk Creek is a treasure of protected habitat. The 255-acre conservation area offers beautiful riparian forest, a soothing creek, and abundant plant and wildlife. If you are looking for a quiet place to be with the temperate rainforest of the Olympic Peninsula, Elk Creek would be a great choice. The trail also gets my vote for best interpretive signs, which entreat the hiker to experience the forest with many senses.

The Quileute Marina is located on reservation land of the Quileute Tribe on the southwestern shores of the Olympic Peninsula in La Push, Washington. The Quileute Tribe, who lived and hunted in this area for thousands of years, settled in La Push and became efficient fishermen and shipbuilders which remains part of their culture to this day. The Quileute have also built a small tourism industry for those exploring the remote west coast of the Washington's Olympic Peninsula.

Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort offers three Mineral Hot Spring soaking pools and one Freshwater Pool. The spring water comes from rain and melting snow, which seeps through cracks in the sedimentary rocks where it mingles with gasses coming from cooling volcanic rocks. The mineralized spring waters then rise to the surface along a larger crack or fissure.

Dry Hill has some of the best downhill mountain biking in Washington State, with flow and technical trails that challenge even the best riders. This trail area is located just outside of Port Angeles, on the Olympic Peninsula, and is home to many downhill and enduro races throughout the year. The trails at Dry Hill are rough and rugged downhill trails that are a ton of fun. Strap on the pads, and give Washington’s premiere downhill mountain bike park a ride.

Enjoy this Olympic National Park scenic beach hike to sea stacks and Hole-in-the-Wall. There is access to tidepools at low tide. Start at the very well kept parking lot at the end of Mora Road outside of La Push, Washington. There is no clearly marked trail to get to the sea stacks that are in all the pictures. It's about a mile hike down the beach to them. Although it is short, the hike can be difficult as the beach is made up of very loose rocks, and you will end up sliding sideways with every step you take.

Hi my name is Jim Richeson inviting you to visit Washington's best location for saltwater fishing. La Push has the same and many times better fishing as other coastal Washington ports such as Neah Bay, Westport and Ilwaco. What we don't have is huge crowds of charters and private boats. Although our vessel is large enough to easily fish eight people we keep the number to six to ensure a enjoyable trip. A second boat can be arranged for larger parties.
