The Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración is a monument in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic. It’s the highest building in Santiago, and a major tourist attraction for the area. Locals go to walk around, exercise (in the mornings or late afternoon), at night there are restaurants/bars. If you’re traveling with your family, just at the bottom of the monument, you can take a ride around the city/monument on horses. Children really enjoy the experience riding on the horse carriages sightseeing. Best time for that is at night.

Baseball is a major sport in the Dominican Republic. Santiago has their own baseball team known as Águilas Cibaeñas. Cibao Stadium hosts the home games during the winter season. Definitely a fun place to go with friends and family or even yourself. Food and drinks are sold during the games.

Absolutely beautiful view of Santiago. The restaurant is at the top of a mountain, very elegant spot for lunch or dinner. Perfect place to go on a date. They even have a love lock wall - just like the one in Paris. Beautiful experience. Just outside the restaurant a collection of cars from 1950’s/1960’s that belonged to the family of dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo - the leader and former president of the Dominican Republic.

Keep in mind that Uber might work a little different in other countries, in the Dominican Republic Uber can be paid cash (currency must be Dominican Peso) or paid through debit/credit card via Uber app!
