The colony was built by German members of the Templar sect in 1868 before the German state was established and hence its name. Today you will not find Germans in it, but you will find a variety of restaurants, hookah houses and stunning views of the temple and the Baha'i Gardens. The colony is one street that stretches from Haifa Bay and climbs a small part of the mountain. The colony is a pleasant and atmospheric walk for good weather.

The Baha'i Gardens are religious sites open to the general public at no cost. As is customary at sites of this type, visitors are asked to dress in modest attire that covers the shoulders and reaches to the knees and without tears. Photography is allowed, except inside the temples.
Visitors are welcome to bring a bottle of water, however drinking other beverages, eating, chewing gum and smoking are prohibited inside the gardens
