Neighborhoods

A charming neighborhood just a short drive from downtown Spokane and Coeur D'Alene. Lots of beautiful golf courses, parks, and trails. . Local places to eat: • Pho Liberty – 23505 E Appleway Ave, Ste. 100. If you are in a mood for a quick bowl of hot pho or some fresh spring rolls. • Pentagon Bistro – 1235 N Liberty Lake Rd. Just a short walk away from the condo, this friendly neighborhood bistro is famous for epic cocktails and great food. It’s a part of a locally owned chain that includes White House and Oval Office restaurants (located a couple of miles away in Post Falls, ID). • True Legends Grill – 1803 N Harward Rd. Another local favorite – a cozy sports bar with lots of indoor and outdoor sitting and friendly staff. • Trailbraker Cider House – 2204 N Madison St., Liberty Lake, WA. A local Cider House with an impressive selection of ciders. They also offer select beers and some appetizers. • Ding How – 1332 N Liberty Lake Rd. Don’t let the humble exterior trick you. This restaurant is a true gem hidden in the midst of Safeway shopping square. Located just a short walk away from the condo it serves some amazing Vietnamese/Chinese/Japanese/Thia fusion food. They do deliver but you have to order at least an hour in advance – the place is hopping! • Hay J’s Bistro – 21706 E Mission Ave. Another local legend with high-end gourmet food (and the prices to match). The location is odd (next to a gas station) but the interior and quality of the food more than make up for it. Great choice if you are in a mood for something fancy. • Piccolo Kitchen Bar – 21718 E Mission Ave. Hay J’s more casual cousin is owned by the same family and located two doors down in the same building. They are famous for their pizza. 2. Local grocery stores: • Safeway – 1304 N Liberty Lake Rd. Just a short walk from the condo it has all the goods a typical Safeway has to offer including a pharmacy. • Yokes – 1233 N Liberty Lake Rd. Located across the street from Safeway and also a short walking distance from the condo this place and (in our opinion) has a better selection of organic and locally farmed foods as well as tasty freshly made Sushi and a great local wines selection. Side note: their rotisserie chicken makes for a yummy meal. • Fred Meyer – 15601 E Sprague Ave. You will need to drive to this one (about 10-12 minutes away) but it may be worth it if you are looking to stock up on well-priced fresh produce. Like Yoke’s, they offer locally farmed foods and wine in addition to other big supermarket brands. • Kiev Market – 16004 E Sprague Ave. If you are feeling adventurous and want to try some Ukrainian/Russian food. It’s a local chain with this particular location being one of the smaller ones. Like Fred Meyer, it’s just a short drive away from the condo. The place sells seasonal locally farmed fruits and vegetables (often at a big discount compared to the supermarkets), cheese, cured meats, sausages, and fish, candy, cakes, and pastries. Their frozen section has a good selection of pierogi – ask the clerk to recommend a good brand. 3. Local golf courses: • Trailhead Golf Course – 1102 N Liberty Lake Rd., Liberty Lake, WA. This place is literally across the street from the condo it features a driving range and a 9-hole executive golf course. • Meadowood Golf Course – 24501 E Valley Way Ave., Liberty Lake, WA. 18-hole championship golf course. • Liberty Lake Golf Course – 24403 E Sprague Ave, Liberty Lake, WA. Another 18-hole championship golf course.

A cool neighborhood and a historic district in downtown Spokane. A few spots worth mentioning here are:  Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture – 2316 W 1st Ave, Spokane, WA. Located in a beautiful mention, this welcoming place usually has an interesting exhibit to see.  Iron Goat Brewing – 1302 W 2nd Ave, Spokane, WA. Their pizza is delicious, and the selection of locally brewed beers and ciders is robust. Add casual and friendly atmosphere – this is definitely one of the locals’ favorites.  The Elk – 1931 W Pacific Ave., Spokane, WA. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this place is legendary. Hands down the best bar food you will ever eat and lots of local history.  El Que – 141 S Cannon St., Spokane, WA. The Elk’s Mexican cousin is located just around the corner. Famous for their home-infused tequilas (ghost pepper is one of my personal faves!) and delicious Tex-Mex style food.  Frank’s Diner – 1516 W 2nd Ave., Spokane, WA. Another local historic diner is located inside a beautifully refurbished antique train car. This is a popular breakfast destination so be prepared to wait.  Italia Trattoria – 144 S Cannon St. Owned by two former Tom Douglas chefs, this place is everything you can expect from a premier Italian restaurant and more. The sitting is limited, so make sure to make your reservations in advance.

Lots of beautiful historic buildings dating back to the period of the Inland Empire.  The Historic Davenport Hotel – 10 S Post St., Spokane WA. Has an impressive list of US presidents and other celebrities who stayed here. The alluring Peacock Lounge located on the first floor has some of the best martinis and their appetizers are to match. If you go to the second floor you can see the beautifully preserved ballrooms and early 1900s photos of the hotel and its guests. I heard, their Sunday Brunch is quite an experience (however, we have not tried it ourselves yet).  The Davenport Tower – 111 S Post St., Spokane, WA. This modern and spacious hotel is located just a kitty-corner from its historic bother. Themed in a safari-style (think elephant heads mounted on the walls and stuffed zebras) it’s famous for its Safari Room bar.  Riverpark Square – 808 W Main Ave. Spokane’s largest shopping/walking area with numerous bars, restaurants, and boutiques – and an ice rink in the winter.

Just a couple miles away from Liberty Lake, this small Idaho town really exploded over the last couple of years. Despite its small size, it has a surprising amount of good bars and restaurants: o The White House Grill – 712 N Spokane St., Post Falls, ID. Their slogan is “if you love garlic, we love you!”. This cozy and always happening place serves delicious authentic Turkish/Mediterranean food and wine. And yes, everything is cooked with lots of garlic. Sarmisak is our personal favorite. o The Oval Office Bistro – 620 N Spokane St., Post Falls, ID. A cosmopolitan cousin of the White House it’s a nice fusion restaurant with a rotating menu featuring some of the locally sourced produce. Like the Pentagon in Liberty Lake, they are famous for their cocktails. Located just a kitty-corner from the White House. o Republic Kitchen & Taphouse – 120 E 4th Ave, Post Falls, ID. A surprising combination of laid-back atmosphere and carefully crafted food and cocktails. o Post Falls Brewing Company – 112 N Spokane St., Post Falls, ID. This is the place to go in the summer (or any other time if you don’t mind indoor sitting). They serve a rotating menu of locally brewed beers and ciders. No food but there is usually a food truck parked in the back that sells some of the bar classics like chicken wings, pizza, and fries. They don’t mind if you bring your own food either.
