On the fancier side

A fusion of Asian with LatinAmerican cuisine, one of our favourites. You have to eat noodles with tuna (it's their speciality). Mmmmm!!!

Food is experimental. More expensive, but so worth it. They have a great cocktail bar downstairs like in a wine cellar.

Market places

Bustling market with stands selling everything from produce & butchered meats to clothes & books. Great vermouth, and spanish-style foods, a local's favourite hang out!

Our favorite brunch/breakfast places

A weekend brunch place you can't go wrong with is Pum Pum Cafe (there are 2 in our area) but there is a queue on weekend mornings. It's comparatively cheap for a brunch place!

Primarily a Secondhand English Language bookstore, this place is super cute and also does great homemade Bagels, and a Bagel Brunch on weekends including limitless Mimosas (if you want!).

Laid-back choice serving brunch classics such as pancakes & open-faced toasts, plus shakes & coffee. Very alternative (hipster) place, steeper prices, but great quality and a beautiful ambience. You can also work from here on one large table if you arrive early enough.

Typical Spanish restaurants/bars

Great typical Spanish place with loads of outdoor seating, just around the corner of the apartment! We usually go there for breakfast for a "pan con tomate" y "cafe con leche" or a tortilla.

This bar/restaurant is in Plaza de Coscorro and it offers a variety of traditional Spanish-style foods combined with an atmosphere. It's not fancy at all, a bit rough around the edges!

Besides a large variety of Vermouth, this bar also serves our favorite tapas in town - smoked cod on bread, or sardines with pesto on bread. Just beautiful. Vermouth is typical in Madrid to drink on a Saturday or Sunday before lunch! They've also got tables outside. It's very close to the Vallehermoso market, so stroll by there beforehand and take a look!
