https://naturkartan.se/sv/vaxjo/braasens-naturreservat Welcome to Braås park-a nature reserve with both a varied natural environment and an exciting cultural history. Here you can walk through flowery pastures and stately manor avenues, among century old pines and beneath enormous pedunculate oaks. The old decidous trees are home to range of lichens, fungi and insects. Follow hiking trails, pick blueberries , lingonberries and mushrooms 🍄 stop for a magical picknick or bath in a lake. The land of the manor Brsås gård has been cultivated as fields and meadows for hundreds of years. An ironworks was founded in the middle of 18th century. During the infustrial area, an English park was established with avenues and meandering paths and the number of peculiar buildings such as the ”Hermit Hut” and ”Dragon House”. Sommarmiljöerna i Braås park känns nästan sydligt frodiga.

The unique wooden town It’s right there, in the heart of the magical ancient woodland in the province of Småland: Eksjö. There are unique environments steeped in cultural history for you to discover throughout the municipality, but the most unique attraction is the wooden town with its architecture that spans more than four centuries. Enter into a cultural treasure trove that has risen from the ashes of two town fires and that contains nearly 60 listed historic buildings. In the old town Gamla Stan and on the squares Stora Torget and Lilla Torget, you will find environments that are reminiscent of the commerce, high society life, tranquillity and everyday activities of days gone by. Be fascinated by the old trading stores and burghers’ residences, such as Aschanska Gården, be impressed by the town’s 18th century church and the historic town hall, Rådhuset, which is now a town hotel. Go for a stroll and let your imagination transport you back to the late Middle Ages and the neoclassicism of the 19th century. The history of the wooden town runs through all these centuries. If only we had a time machine and could travel back to experience it all! Eksjö hosts many concerts, markets and other events, during which the wooden town often provides an atmospheric backdrop. However, it is never just an extra; simply by being there it always plays the leading role. Eksjö was awarded the Europa Nostra prize in 1997 “for the remarkable renovation of this important ensemble of traditional wooden buildings which has given new life to the old town centre.” More about Eksjö at www.visiteksjo.se

At Hultaklint peak, 290 metres above sea level, there is a dramatic fall of 20 metres down to the dark waters of Lake Klintsjön. The view here is also magnificent, stretching many miles to distant lakes and including five church steeples. There are tables here where you can enjoy your picnic lunch against the backdrop of this incredible view. Close by, you'll also find Singoalla's cave, which bears the name of the protagonist in the Swedish author Viktor Rydberg's novel, the Wind is my Lover. The path to the cave is steep and requires strong legs and a good sense of balance. Please note that you enter this area at your own risk. Enjoy your stay outdoors! Just beyond the Hultaklint observation point is Singoalla's cave. The cave takes its name from Viktor Rydberg's novel about the love between the knight, Erland Månesköld, and the Roma girl, Singoalla. In the summer of 1846, Viktor Rydberg worked as a private teacher at the nearby manor in Berg. The path to the cave is steep and requires strong legs and a good sense of balance. A really enjoyable and environmentally friendly way to travel along Smalspåret - The narrow gauge railway - is with an old inspection trolley. Trolleys are available for hire in three charming places along Smalspåret. https://smalsparet.com/ HULTSFRED TO MÅLILLA If you choose to start in Hultsfred, the tour takes you 12 km southwards to Målilla. You pass through a varying landscape with pine forests and a beautiful lake to swim in. By the lake Hesjön you will find a nice spot for some rest where you can eat your picnic, before continuing to Målilla. At Målilla Sanatorium, the end station for the trolleys, you lift your trolley and turn it around to go back to Hultsfred. CYCLE FROM VIRSERUM From Virserum you are able to cycle all the way to Åseda, a distance of 29 km, but you choose yourself if you want to cycle the whole distance or only a section. One suggestion is to cycle to Aggatorp - a distance of about 6,5 km. If you start in Virserum, don't miss the station building that has been renovated to remind of the 50s and 60s. Your trip starts in a beautiful deciduous forest and the track gives you a nice view of the lake Virserumssjön. Make sure to slow down your speed when you get closer to Hjortöström, so that you can have a look at the old mill ruin and its pond. The perhaps most beautiful section of all is when Smalspåret crosses a bank across Lake Hjorten, and you have water on both sides of the track. Along the route there are several nice resting places where you can catch your breath. ÅSEDA TO TRIABO Deep forests, lakes and small red houses surround you when you pedal from Åseda towards Triabo. Here you cycle through the typical, idyllic Småland scenery. Halfway, in Hultanäs, you reach the old general store. Here you can revel in flea market bargains, but make sure that they will fit on the trolley on the way back! Find contact details on Smalspåret's website.

Transjö Hytta is a small workshop in the forests of the "Glass Kingdom" of southern Sweden. It was started in 1982 by two Master Glassmakers from the Kosta Boda factory which is famous for its modern designs. At Kosta, also the oldest factory in Sweden (1742), Jan-Erik Ritzman and Sven-Åke Carlsson worked with world renowned designers and collaborated in the invention of what is now called "Mid-Century Modernism". Eventually Jan-Erik and Sven-Åke decided to strike out on their own and set up a "laboratory" for glass. It would be a place to make their own work, but with room to continue to collaborate with visiting artists, as well as a home for an international apprenticeship program. Their own work combines their extensive technical knowledge with their equally strong connection to the restrained and elegant Scandinavian aesthetic. Jan-Erik and Sven-Åke's work has been exhibited internationally in many museums and galleries.

Amazing Michelin star experience. Locally produced food and old local recepies fueled with innovation and creativity. Braås activity park

Here in Braås is the best activity park in all of Växjö. The area breathes activity under the open sky with a multi-arena for ball sports, courts for padel and tennis, an outdoor gym, an area for group training, an obstacle course with pulse, a motor track for younger people and a fun pump track for activity on wheels. There is a nice mix in the activity park that lasts for many hours.

Aktivitetspark i Braås
