Places to visit

This site is very helpful: www.discoverpuertorico.com In Puerto Rico there are also many beautiful WATERFALLS and RIVERS that you can visit and enjoy. I recommend the following companies to make your trip safe. You can contact them through their Instagram or Facebook pages. *Unique Quality Tours with Jorge Echevarría *Grekiando PR with Sergio Dávila You can use Google Maps for the location of these places. There are many more places that I will continue to add. I hope you enjoy it.

Río Grande, PR This natural treasure is an excellent destination if you want to be immersed in nature. You can visit for a hike on one of its many trails, bathe in natural pools beneath waterfalls, or relax and enjoy the scenery. El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest Service, and its name is a reference to Yuke, what the indigenous Taíno people defined as "white lands." With an average rainfall of 120 inches a year, El Yunque has a very diverse ecosystem, hosting hundreds of unique plant and animal species, including the Island's famous coquí frog.

Piñones, Loíza, PR "A picturesque ocean drive from Carolina to Loíza where you can enjoy local dining experiences and practice what Puerto Ricans call chinchorreo. Full of delicious authentic street food, made in the traditional fogón, the many little chinchorros (small dining stands) offer fritters made from plantain, fresh fish, oysters, and a lot sazón. You can also buy cold coconut water, drink it from the coconut itself, or try the crabmeat alcapurrias and bacalaítos (codfish fritters). The weekend is particularly busy if you want to find a bustling local scene. Enjoy the peaceful waves at La Pocita or Vacía Talega, two secluded beaches where you can go swimming or soak in the sun." -DPR-

In the town's main square, you will find a lively atmosphere filled with food kiosks, live music, and beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea. Unlike the rest of the seaside destinations found around the island, La Parguera doesn't have any beaches, but instead, it is surrounded by pristine cays. Río Piedras, San Juan *Highly recommended* Their menu changes weekly. You can find it on their Facebook page. "In an old house of Río Piedras, Flor de Parcha bets for a gourmet approach to Puerto Rican food and a hint of natural fruits flavors. As soon as you walk into this restaurant, the smell of a fresh cooked meal, fresh fruits and ingredients will make you want to ask for everything in the menu. If confused, go for the majado de viandas. You won’t regret it. This place also offers an outside bar, where wine and sangrias are served in a relaxed ambient for people to get to know each other. Cayey, PR "Every WEEKEND, the mountain town of Cayey receives droves of visitors, both locals and tourists, that come to enjoy traditional food, live music and dancing, and a party atmosphere in an area known as Guavate. You'll find lechonera after lechonera serving slow-roasted whole pork (also chicken), heaping portions of rice and pigeon peas, yuca al mojo, mofongo, and other traditional Puerto Rican dishes. Lechón means roasted whole pork, which is cooked for hours over hot coals or an open flame, allowing the skin to get crispy while the meat remains tender and juicy. Lechoneras are restaurants that serve lechón and most have a cafeteria-style setup. When you arrive, you get in line and order right at the counter, either individual portions which include pork or chicken and two sides (called a combinación) or you can order pork by the pound, chicken by the quarter, and sides by containers (small or large). The pork is laid out on a cutting board behind the counter and chopped into pieces with a machete." -DPR-

Verkehrsmittel

Renting a car is the best way of transportation.

If you prefer not to rent a car you can use UBER. I recommend José Vázquez, he's an Uber driver and a friend of mine. Let me know if you interested in his transportation services so I can give you his phone number.
