This is a great place for a family visit or a historical look into how families and people lived in the mining times. There is a lovely tram ride and visitors centre. There are houses set up which shows you how people lived and worked in the mining times and a trip down into the mines. Guides available. Lovely cafe. There is a lovely swing park and nice walks.

There are houses set up which shows you how people lived and worked in the mining times and a trip down into the mines. Guides available. Lovely cafe. There is a lovely swing park and nice walks.
Fantastic day out. The castle worth a visit along with numerous shops, restaurants and bars along the famous Prince's Street. Approximately 69 mins from our local train station. A return ticket after 9am is £13, there may be discounted family tickets, or further discounts if you have a rail card.

Burg Edinburgh Castle

A return ticket after 9am is £13, there may be discounted family tickets, or further discounts if you have a rail card.
Birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Great history tour. Wallace Monument close by. Great place to visit as well and a fun tour (Braveheart). Doune Castle is another 10 mins away used a location for Outlander and Monty Phython's Holy Grail. Great day out.

Train will get you into Glasgow between 20 to 30 minutes price around £5 return approx.
