City Beach is a perfect place to spend a lake day and enjoy views of Big Mountain and Whitefish Lake. There are kayak & paddleboard rentals available as well as a concession stand. City Beach does get extremely busy during the summer, so going at less popular times or checking out different parts of Whitefish Lake is recommended if you’re looking for some peace & quiet!

You definitely will need a car to get around and get the most out of your trip to GNP or Whitefish! This year, there has been a shortage of rental cars for travelers. We recommend booking your rental car in advance if you need one.

Local Tips
Farmer’s Markets are on Tuesdays 5pm-7:30pm downtown Whitefish May 25- September 28. There is an additional harvest market October 12. The farmers market is located at Depot Park at the north end of Central Ave. Live music is often happening every weekend in one of the bars or restaurants downtown: Remington, Casey’s, etc.

Bear Spray
If you plan on spending any time outdoors, please remember to buy, carry, and know how to use bear spray! You can find it at Sportsman’s Ski Haus in Whitefish. You cannot fly with bear spray so remember to dispose of it properly before heading home.
