This hike is an out-and-back hike that follows Hunter Creek and culminates in a waterfall. This 5.8-mile hike starts in a desert landscape and turns into a pine forest as the elevation increases. It is dog-friendly and the creek is perfect for dogs to cool off in.

Galena Creek is at the base of 431 before driving over the hill to Tahoe. There are several great trails of varying lengths from easy 1-2 mile loops to hard 10 mile hikes with lots of elevation gain.

The local co-op is very close by and has a great selection of local fruits, veggies, cheeses, and speciality items. It’s small but well stocked and the perfect place to pick up items for a nice picnic by the river.
