They won best coffee roaster of the year for the entire US. Warm, inviting place. Friday mornings there are public "cuppings" (tastings) where you can learn about roasting and brewing coffee. I tried the Trophy Wife which is a Macadamia Nut flavored coffee and it was amazing. Decent line so be prepared. They grind that coffee fresh and this spot has such a well rounded flavor to their roast.

“Oscars is a small hole in the wall taco stand closest to the condo but there is another Oscars in Pacific Beach (3 miles south). The breakfast plates ($5.50) are delicious -- smoked fish is my favorite and good enough for 2 people. Their specialty is fish tacos ($1.99), shrimp tacos ($2.99). Shrimp ceviche ($4.90) is a local favorite. There is often a line to order and a bit of a wait for your food to be ready. Only a few outdoor tables to sit at. So consider take out". There is NO big Oscars sign from the street and you might miss it as you drive along Turqoiuse St. However, you will see people eating out in the small outdoor tables and that's Oscars.

“Iconic San Diego Burger Joint which was featured on Diners Drive ins and Dives TV show. Always a line during the Summer but worth the wait. Wednesday is the best time to beat the line or try to get there before 5:00 p.m. as it can fill up quickly.”

“One of the best hamburgers can be found at this local bar. Can be a wait for a table. Menu has two items (hamburger 1/3 or 1/2 lb with or without cheese and French fries) Lunch special includes burger and choice of a beer or soda. Cash only. 21 & older. Offers takeout. They do one thing and do it very well, or medium well. Most San Diego craft beers are on tap here and available by the pitcher.”

Renowned chef Trey Foshee’s seafood-centric cuisine served in an elegant setting with three-stories of ocean views. Open for lunch and dinner. Zagat rated San Diego’s Best Californian Restaurant. A little expensive but good food and nice ocean view.

Kono's is a very popular breakfast/lunch spot across from the Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach. Decently priced amazing home-style breakfast! HUGE portions. Usually there is a line out the door, but it moves pretty quickly. If it's a nice day, be sure to scuttle around the opposite side of the boardwalk to the hidden deck area to overlook the ocean while you eat. Bring cash, because they don't take cards.

They have the best French toasts and crab cakes! It gets pretty crowded on the weekend, but it is definitely worth the wait. Located within “The Village” in downtown La Jolla. Enjoy people watching in the outdoor covered patio surrounded by white picket fence or inside the newly renovated vintage coastal cottage. Open daily for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Open for dinner between May and September.
