Great place, yet unassuming, to sit outside and have a cold beer with made to order "bolinhos de bacalhau" (codfish fritters). Very affordable (5 reais per "bolinho" and around 12 for the liter of beer).
Classic after beach Carioca lifestyle.

Arp is the hotel's beach bar and restaurant, right in front of Arpoador beach. Nice food and drinks. Very trendy. Has open air sitting arrangements overlooking Arpoador beach. Highly recommended.

Lots of surfing goes on in Arpoador and the adjacent Diabo Beach. Surfing season is during the winter months, but summers are great for beginners. Easy to find lessons and rentals (though there's one board at your disposal in the apartment).

Watching the sunset at Arpoador is simply unmissable during the summer months. You may choose to head to the stone or just hang by the beach. Alternatively, you could rent a SUP to enjoy the view from the sea.
