These guys' bread is so good there's often a line of people to get there in the morning while it's fresh! From their website: "We believe connected communities are stronger communities, so our goal is to connect people to each other, and to the land we share. We dream of neighborhood-sized brewery-bakeries dotting Spokane, bringing neighbors together. We're passionate about highlighting the Palouse's incredible bounty so urban-dwellers can feel closer to the farmers and land our food comes from. It's a passion, and it's a purpose. So come in for a loaf or a pint, and while you're here, strike up a conversation. "

Perry Street Brewing has been serving craft beer on Perry Street since March 2014. The brewery was created by a local couple, Ben & Christy. He’s from Montana and she’s from Spokane. Their vision for Perry Street Brewery was to create a neighborhood gathering place where you can bring the whole family. They specifically chose this location on Perry Street because of the sense of community around the neighborhood. Originally, Perry Street Brewing only sold beer and they partnered with local food trucks to serve their patrons good grub. Eventually, they decided to add a small kitchen to their space and start serving food out of their own kitchen, run by Chef Alisha. The kitchen is tiny, only big enough for two, but they have managed to create an impressive menu full of fresh, local foods that keep people coming back for more than just the beer. The owners had a vision for farm-to-table craft food to match their craft beer atmosphere, and Chef Alisha delivered! Back in the kitchen, the entire staff is female. #girlpower. Perry Street Brewing is built on employees who work hard and care about what they are doing. They typically serve two different menus each year and just recently started serving their Spring/Summer menu. The new menu is created to highlight the season and I would use two words to describe it: Fresh and Fruity.

Southern inspired, farm-fresh American true food. We take our inspiration from the world around us. From Casper and a simpler time when American craftsmanship insured quality, and most foods were fresh, and grown locally. At Casper Fry we’ve crafted each detail with thought and care. Designing a restaurant, and a menu that is reflective of the classic foods of comfort, which invoke nostalgia, yet inspire us to reinvent. We’re taking a modern approach in recreating authentic Southern dishes, relying on the beautiful foods of our region. We feel strongly about reinvesting in our local economy, supporting our local farmers and ranchers, and contributing to a sustainable environment. We think it’s important to know the story about the food we eat. As a family with roots here, we’re excited to participate in the revitalization of the historic South Perry neighborhood. At Casper Fry we embody and embrace the vital strands of this essential fabric of our town, and we promise to always deliver non-complicated, farm inspired American true food.

Grant Park sits in the newly revitalized Perry Street District on the lower South Hill. This park is unique in that it was originally designed to be a playfield, originally called the U. S. Grant Playground. It was 2.97 acres and like many of the other playgrounds in Spokane was built next to a school, Grant Elementary. The Olmsted Brothers, a landscape architecture firm from Brookline, MA, recommended that playfields be incorporated in the city planning for Spokane. They also recommended the size, features, and gave it appeal to families moving to the area.

With 51 acres of space, upper and lower sections, a pond, basalt bluffs and views of Mount Spokane, Lincoln Park is the perfect spot for an easy hike. Its lower section offers standard park facilities like a playground, baseball field and picnic areas. An old access road connects lower Lincoln park to the upper section and the road is currently only for pedestrian use. If you’re up for a workout, there are hidden stone steps that serve as a shortcut to upper Lincoln Park. As you ascend the trail towards upper Lincoln Park, you’ll see huge basalt formations and plenty of Ponderosa Pine.
