Virtually on the other side of the Road from my place is the Manly Dam reserve. There is a magnificent (and at parts quite difficult) Mountain Bike track, as well as a number of walking tracks around the dam

There is a superb bike/walking/running track around the Narrabeen lagoon. You can also canoe, windsurf, swim in the lagoon. There are a number of cafes and playgrounds/BBQ spots around the lagoon as well

Obviously biased, however I think Manly Beach through to North Steyne and Queenscliff is the nicest Beach in Sydney - very accessible, plenty of grass and shade, surf and then close to Manly’s cafes, restaurants and shops.

early on the Spit to Manly walk - a family friendly beach with a couple of cafes and a restaurant - on the harbour so no waves. Plenty of BBQ places grass, a playground and trees for shade
