The market is an OK market, but it is more important as a hub for great small local food services such as Makai Sushi, Loco Coco Shave Ice and Anaki Juice Bar. Last time we were there a small thai food cart had also opened up in the back of the shop.

The trailhead at Pihea gives you access to a beautiful view of the NaPali coastline from above. Other hikes can be accessed from here including the Alakai Swamp trail

This is the highest swamp in the world. The hike is about 7 miles round trip and involves some ups and downs and a bit and is moderately difficult. There are boards laid out across the swamp so you can walk through it. On a rare clear day at the end of the trail you can see Hanalei and the North side of the island.

This hike is 1.2 miles up , it is technically easy although hard work on the way up. We generally go up and down the same way, although you can access the top from two different trailheads. The one marked on this map is the most commonly used, the other one is in the wailua homesteads on the backside of the sleeping giant. From the top there are great 360 views of the West side of the island. Afterwards go to Wailua Shave Ice

We generally go up and down the same way, although you can access the top from two different trailheads. The one marked on this map is the most commonly used, the other one is in the wailua homesteads on the backside of the sleeping giant. From the top there are great 360 views of the West side of the island. Afterwards go to Wailua Shave Ice
This trail is accessible from the house on foot. Head toward the Hyatt on the greenbelt trail and when the trail ends walk across the sand to the edge of the bluff to find various trail leading East. They will ultimately all converge and you can walk all the way around to Maha'ulepu Beach. Nothing too difficult and you can make it as long or short as you want by turning around. OR you can cheat and drive on the Poipu Road past the Hyatt and park near the CJ stables.
