A leisurely stroll up our beautiful West Street Valley will be rewarded at the beginning of the next village, Winterborne Houghton, with freshly caught trout at only £3 for a good sized fish, or Artic Char ( a type of Salmon) at only £5, which is also supplied to the Ivy Restaurant! Try to smoked artic char as well. It is fabulous.

Bulbarrow Hill
A Saxon hill fort with breathtaking views and great walks.
Walk up West Street to Winterborne Houghton and beyond. Walking through history with many ancient thatched cottages and interesting sights. There are rear paths all along at the back of the buildings on the right when walking from Stickland so you can vary your walk through fields.

Walk up West Street to Winterborne Houghton and beyond. Walking through history with many ancient thatched cottages and interesting sights. There are rear paths all along at the back of the buildings on the right when walking from Stickland so you can vary your walk through fields.
Sightseeing
Far reaching views, walks in all directions. Drive north through the village, through Turnworth, then keep going until you see the breathtaking views all around. Come down the other side into Okeford Fitzpaine which has a handy local store.

Restored station buildings, a museum, a souvenir shop and of course a café offering hot and cold drinks and a snacks menu. There are tables inside an original (“ Mk1”) carriage, or outside on the platform and in the station garden – all with wonderful views of the Dorset

Very reasonable cinema used by all the locals. Try Basilico up the road for a quick and tasty pizza, or The King and Thai down the road or the Rajpoot at 43 High West Street ( up the road and left, it’s on the right nearly at the top, a 10 min walk) for a great Indian meal. The Convivial Rabbit, up the road on the right is a great micro pub to soak in some atmosphere and meet the locals.
