This is my daily walk! 50 minutes and you don’t have to drive anywhere. I leave from the house and turn right, after a short section of highway walking your at the trailhead. There are two docks and a boat launch located along the trail, they are great places to swim on a hot day!

Auke Lake Hiking Trail
Glacier HighwayThis is my daily walk! 50 minutes and you don’t have to drive anywhere. I leave from the house and turn right, after a short section of highway walking your at the trailhead. There are two docks and a boat launch located along the trail, they are great places to swim on a hot day!
The perseverance trail area offers many hiking options, some long some steep and some relatively flat. Granite creek basin is my favorite, if your looking for a challenge and a view head for mt Juneau a 6.5 mile hike to the top.

50 minutes up the trail will lead you to one of the best views of the mendenhall glacier. This is also where the ice cave trail spurs from.

The Mendenhall Glacier
This is a spectacular glacier that is a must see for visitors to Juneau. The visitor center offers indoor exhibits and educational programs about the glaciers history and the surounding environment. The house is located 11 minutes by car and 30 minutes by bike to the visitor center parking lot. Overall The Mendenhall glacier is an awe inspiring natural wonder that is not to be missed.
