Barracuda Lake is a very unusual dive site famous for its Thermocline. The first 4m layer of water is actually fresh water around 28°C. When you are going down you then meet salt water. There is a huge Thermocline and Heliocline at 14m deep and the water temperature is rising to 38°C!!! It is really a must dive in addition to the Wrecks if you stay for a few days in Coron. Also for swimming and views.

Twin lagoon is another must-see destination in Coron. On your way to the lagoon, your boat will pass by and maneuver around amazing limestone rock formations. Your boat will dock at the first lagoon. The second lagoon is tucked hidden behind the limestone walls. You may either swim underneath the rocks or climb the makeshift stairs to see its beauty.

The island of Malcapuya is located 2 hours away from Coron Town. It’s definitely worth the ride. We’ve been to a lot of beaches in the Philippines and we thought nothing will match Boracay’s powdery white sand, but Malcapuya surprised us!

Banana Island’s beach compared to Malcapuya and Bulog Dos is shorter. The swimming area though is deeper hence tourists stay here longer to snorkel. If you’re lucky enough, you might spot a Giant Clam. According to our guide, it’s abundant around the island.

A former leaper colony, Culion now offers a combination of otherworldly underwater seascapes, historic allure, and a genuine community spirit and hospitality that is increasingly becoming hard to find. The place offers a feeling of remoteness and isolation, where you can reflect and recharge from the urban grind, making it a popular venue for retreats. For those who hate beach party scenes and want a more meaningful destination, this may just be the best place to visit.

Unlike most of the other ships, the Irako Maru was not able to escape the Manila attacks. The Irako Maru was a 149-meter long refrigeration cargo ship traveling between Japan and what is now Taiwan. The wheel house at 34 meters and the cargo deck at 36 meters can be a beautiful penetration dive for recreational wreck divers. Technical divers can enter the wreck from the cargo hold at 40 meters to explore other internal decks.
